USD 115 Determining When Changes Should Be Made.

Nemaha Central, USD 115 will consider at their December meeting a proposal to close the St. Benedict Elementary facility after the 2013 school year. Meetings with school officials and the public were held, and the board reviewed the initial draft at a recent meeting. Utilization of the B&B Junior/Senior High building in Baileyville is also being explored as an action step during a four year consolidation process.

Also at the December meeting, the board is expected to determine a timeline for adding softball and baseball programs to the district. The teams would be comprised of players from Nemaha Valley and B&B Schools, and could begin as early as this spring. School officials were charged with determining if such date is possible.
