Wymore Man Pleads No Contest to Felony Child Abuse

44-year-old John Hintz of Wymore plead no contest Thursday morning in Gage County District Court to a charge of felony child abuse.

Court documents say that in March the Gage County Sheriff’s Office received a report from the Department of Health and Human Services in regards to a 7-year-old child under the adopted care of Hintz. The report claimed Hintz was using discipline methods that could physically and mentally affect the child.

Court documents state the child was adopted by the Hintz family in November of 2010. The child had been abused by his biological parents and had been in 14 different foster homes before being adopted by Hintz.

Hintz is scheduled to be sentenced on Nov. 3. Child abuse is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison, a $10,000 fine or both.
