KSHSAA Announces Television/WebCast Partnership

Topeka, KS. – The Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA), When We Were Young Productions (WWWYP), and PlayON! Sports announce the launch of the KSHSAA Network, a new cross-platform endeavor that will deliver unprecedented television and web coverage of selected KSHSAA state championship events.

WWWYP/PlayON! Sports will produce and distribute content for the KSHSAA Network. When fully implemented, the project will feature broad coverage of numerous state tournament and championship events each year. Beginning this fall, the KSHSAA Network will bring live coverage of Class 5A & 6A Girls Volleyball, Class 4-3-2-1A Boys Soccer, 8-Man Football Division I & II, and Class 5A & 6A 11-Man football championships. Through its partnership with Fox Sports Midwest, all of these events will be made available live on free of charge. Additionally, we are pleased to announce the Class 6A football championship game will be broadcast live on the Fox Sports Kansas City/Midwest linear service throughout the State of Kansas.

“The member schools of the KSHSAA and Kansas students and families will benefit from our involvement in this project,” said KSHSAA Executive Director Gary Musselman. “The opportunity to provide the public with expanded opportunities to watch Kansas high school students perform is fundamental to our mission. This partnership affords us the opportunity to increase exposure to a greater variety of our programs and an increased number of schools in all classifications. Given the interest and popularity of high school sports, this project enables a world-wide audience to view our events.”

The KSHSAA.TV online portal is scheduled to launch October 21st. Future announcements regarding web and television coverage will be forthcoming. The portal will also host numerous “classic” KSHSAA state championship events and highlight packages from previous years. There will be no subscription fee to view any content on the KSHSAA.TV portal.

“We are very excited to enter into this new partnership with the KSHSAA. Our goal is to deliver broader levels of coverage and exposure to all KSHSAA activities within the framework, mission, and values of the Association and its members,” When We Were Young President Tim Eichorst said. “The addition of Fox Sports Midwest/Kansas City as a strategic partner also brings unprecedented coverage and distribution of these very special and endearing events.”
