Black Squirrel Night

Friday is Black Squirrel Night downtown Marysville.  The Footloose Dancers will perform at 6:30 p.m. and the MHS Band at 7 p.m. at Eighth and Broadway. The children’s costume contest will be at 7:30 p.m. in front of United Bank & Trust.

The fire department and Jaws of Life demonstrations will be on Broadway, sponsored by the Marysville Fire Department.

Marysville Main Street’s ghost tour will start at the front gate of the Koester House Museum yard. Tours are at 7, 7:30, 8 and 8:30 p.m. on both Thursday and Friday. People on the walking tour will be greeted by the ghost of Sylvia Koester in the museum yard, and then the tour group will be led up into the old Masonic Hall for a conversation with the ghost of Charles F. Koester, who built the hall.

Tickets, which are $5, are on sale in the Main Street office (in the old police station), library and Advocate. Each tour is limited to 12 people.

A pumpkin-decorating contest will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday. Participants are to bring their decorated pumpkins to Santa’s House for judging.

Spooky hayrack rides will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and will begin at the Santa House. Rides will depart every 15 minutes. Tickets are $1 and can be purchased that evening at the Santa House

Fabulous Fall Fun Night, with activities for families, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 27 in the Blue Rapids Elementary School gym.

A Family Halloween Party and Haunted House will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Blue Rapids Elementary School gym.  Children must be accompanied by a person 16 years old or older.  Admission is $5 for children and $10 for people 16 and older. Admission includes a sloppy joe dinner.

A free-will donation will be taken for the hayrack ride.  The event is a fundraiser for the Blue Rapids Swimming Pool.
