One man is dead after a hit and run accident and a second rollover accident.
Saturday afternoon Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a report of a hit and run accident on Highway 8 near Steele City. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies located the accident and discovered one vehicle had left the scene.
Four victims, the driver and passengers in the remaining vehicle were injured. The driver of the vehicle was Suzanne Huerta, age 56, of Omaha vehicle. The driver and three unidentified passengers were treated at Jefferson Community Hospital and released.
The second vehicle was reported to be a silver Honda with Oklahoma license plates and was eastbound on Nebraska 8 driven by a white male. According to the report, the vehicle had sustained “considerable” damage to its left front end. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s office issued a “be on the lookout” bulletin for the silver Honda.
A Pawnee County deputy located the vehicle at the intersection of Nebraska Highway 8 and Nebraska 99 south of Burchard. The vehicle had been involved in a rollover accident. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene of the rollover. Pawnee County Sheriff’s Department has not released the driver’s information.
