Beatrice Woman Arrested for Child Abuse

Tieghsia L. Udell, age 21 of Beatrice was arrested early Wednesday morning for child abuse. Police were called to 1008 N. 26th at about 2:00 a.m. to investigate a 2-year-old child in the parking lot alone.

Residents of the apartment complex found the child in the parking lot after they heard him calling for his mother. The neighbors attempted to locate Udell but were unsuccessful. They then call the police.

Police found Udell’s phone number and attempted calling her. No one answered so the police left a message. Udell returned the call minutes later. Udell told police she had given an intoxicated friend a ride home. She said the child was asleep and she did not want to wake him or have him see the intoxicated friend.

Based on the evidence police arrested Udell for child abuse. The child was transported to the Beatrice Police Department placed in the custody of the Department of Health and Human Services.
