Gage County Highway and Weed Superintendents Resign

The Beatrice Daily Sun reports the Gage County Board of Supervisors held a special meeting Wednesday afternoon and accepted the resignation of Highway Superintendent Marlin Kliewer and Weed Superintendent Emily Rosenthal. The resignations were effective August 31st.

Both Kliewer and Rosenthal were suspended with pay on Aug. 1 amid allegations of discrimination from within the highway department.

Kliewer and Rosenthal both still have pending complaints filed with the Nebraska Equal Opportunity Commission.

Kliewer had been the county’s highway superintendent since December of 2002. Rosenthal had been the weed superintendent since April of 2008.
