Beattie Woman Injured in Two-Vehicle Accident

A Beattie woman was injured in an accident on Saturday evening. The Gage County Sheriff’s Office reported the accident took place at the intersection of South 5th Drive and East Elm Road just south of Pickrell.

A 2000 Chevrolet S-10 pickup driven by 20 year old Blaine M. Harms of Beatrice was traveling northbound on South 5th Drive. A 2001 Ford F-250 driven by 55 year old Robert L. Goodwin of Beattie, Kansas was traveling westbound on East Elm Road. Mr. Harms entered the intersection of East Elm Road and South 5th Drive and failed to yield to Mr. Goodwin. Mr. Goodwin’s vehicle entered the intersection at the same time and was hit by Mr. Harm’s vehicle in the intersection.

The passenger in the F-250 pickup, 31 year old Lanna Goodwin of Beattie, Kansas, was transported to Beatrice Community Hospital by Beatrice Rescue for injuries sustained in the accident. Ms. Goodwin was not wearing her seatbelt when the collision occurred.

The intersection was closed for approximately 30 minutes while the investigation was being completed. A citation was issued to Mr. Harms for failing to yield the right of way.
