Beatrice City Council Agrees to Help Playground

Beatrice City Council added $25,000 to the city budget for the Prairie Playground that will be located at the YMCA. Funding will be provided with equal matches of $12,500 coming from keno funds and the occupation tax. The city also agreed to contribute in-kind services for the park’s construction and be responsible for the park maintenance.

The Beatrice City budget was approved and includes a 2% increase to the tax levy, a 5.5 percent increase in water rates, a 5 percent increase in waste water rates, and an increase in residential garbage rates
