A semi-tractor trailer struck a train at a railroad crossing on U.S. 36 Highway just east of Seneca injuring three Springfield, Missouri residents. The accident occurred Saturday at approximately 4:15 in the morning.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a semi driven by 34-year-old Marcus Andrew Taylor was traveling west and didn‘t see the railroad crossing lights due to the fog. Taylor swerved in an attempt to avoid the train. The semi hit and broke off the crossing arm and then struck the Union Pacific train.
Taylor and two passengers in the sleeper compartment of the semi, 41-year-old Kimberly Hodson and 9-year-old Marcus Taylor, were transported to the Nemaha Valley Community Hospital in Seneca.
No one aboard the train was injured.
