The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department has seen an increasing trend in property thefts over the course of the last year. According to Sheriff Hargrave the thefts over the last year have been spread across the county, touching all four corners. Sheriff Hargrave said that the thefts have included body shop tools and mechanic tools, firearms, and computers. Both homes and businesses have been burglarized, but there has been only one case where people were in the home when the persons attempted to enter.
In related news: The Nemaha County Sheriff‘s Department is investigating the theft of more than 42-hundred dollars worth of items sometime early July 21st from a building near Goff. Items taken include a welder, welding equipment and several tools.
The Nemaha County Sheriff’s Department is also investigating the theft of more than $300 worth of items from 87-hundred block of Washington Street in Oneida.
Sometime between July 23rd and July 28th two ladders, two 55-gallon barrels, dog food, an air compressor and other items were taken from the location.
Anyone with information on either crime is asked to contact the Nemaha County Sheriff‘s office.
Atchison Police are also investigating the theft of 35-hundred-dollars worth of tools from a storage shed. A laser level, nail guns, an air compressor, saws, and hand tools were taken from a residence in the 1300 block of South 7th Street. Atchison Police have been investigating one theft after another, occurring between July 10th and July 31st, the same time frame that the tools were stolen.
