Beatrice Police Searching For Robbery Suspect

Reported by the Beatrice Daily Sun:

The Beatrice Police Department is investigating an attempted armed robbery outside Beatrice Family Chiropractic Monday night.

Lieutenant Mike Oliver said an individual wearing a fedora-style hat was waiting on a retaining wall shortly after 6 p.m. for a worker to exit the building at 2526 E. Court St.

When the worker approached her car, which was near the wall, the individual approached the woman, whose identity has not been released, and attempted to rob her.

“The man approached her on foot, displayed a black hand gun and said ‘your keys, your purse or your life’ several times,” Oliver said. “She screamed and swung her purse and he ran to the car. Her instincts just took over.”

No items were taken in the attempted robbery and the woman was not injured.

The man, identified as being 5 foot 7 inches, around 160 pounds and having a dark complection, fled to a nearby vehicle which was believed to have two other occupants.

The vehicle, described only as a white older car, fled the scene.

No money or other items were taken by the suspect and the woman was not injured.

Oliver said police are seeking the public’s help in locating the suspect.

Anyone with information on the attempted robbery is asked to call the police at 402-223-4080. Informants can also call Crime Stoppers of Gage County at 402-228-4343.
