Wymore Man Arrested for Attempting to Assault Police Officer

A Wymore man was arrested early Sunday morning June 12th for attempting to assault a Wymore police officer. Wymore police were dispatched to 417 D St. in reference to a man trying to force his way into the house. Wymore Police Officer Michael Rath responded to the scene and found a man later identified as Clarence T. Schultz, banging his hand on the side of the house.

The occupants of the home said Schultz was threatening to do harm to them and attempting to gain access to the house by force.

Wymore Police Officer Michael Rath reported that he told Schultz he was under arrest, Schultz attempted to punch Rath and continued to fight with the officer. Rath used pepper spray to subdue Schultz and held him on the ground until other officers arrived.

Schultz was treated for the pepper spray and then transferred to the Gage County Detention Center. He was charged with disturbing the peace, terroristic threats, criminal trespassing, assault on an officer and resisting arrest. His bond is set at $5,000.
