Six Nomination in Limbo

The abortion issue has put former Kansas Attorney General Steve Six’s nomination to an Appellate Court Judgeship on hold for the time being.

Vermont Democrat Patrick Leahy, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee announced today that the vote on Six’s nomination to the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals was being held over because some committee members want more discussion.

Anti-abortion groups are trying to prevent the appointment because of how criminal cases involving abortion providers were handled while he was the Kansas AG.

Six is certainly not getting any help from the two Kansas Senators – Pat Roberts and Jerry Moran. Both have publicly announced their opposition to Six becoming an Appellate Judge.

About Mike Schrant

Mike is one of those guys who has spent nearly a lifetime trying to figure out what he wants to do when he grows up. He has split time as a broadcaster and educator having first worked in radio in the early 1970’s while attending junior college. The two careers are directly connected because many of the 25 years as an educator were spent teaching broadcast journalism at the high school and college levels. Mike is married and has three adult children (no grandchildren yet) and enjoys sports, debating politics, gardening, landscaping-hauling rocks, and swapping stories with the "good old boys".
