National Nurses Week is May 6-12, 2011. To celebrate this event, Community Memorial Healthcare (CMH) Nursing Services is partnering with St. Gregory’s Catholic School for a project whereby students will be asked to draw an image of what a hospital nurse means to them. Ashley Hermesch, Director of Nursing (DON), hopes the art project will help raise awareness for the students as to the important role that nurses play in healthcare. “I want the students to have fun in creating their own images of what a nurse is and what they do for patients in a hospital setting,” said Hermesch. “An art project like this can help students use their imagination and creativity, have fun, and learn something about healthcare in the process, “she added. Hermesch is working with St. Gregory’s librarian and art teacher Margaret Huffman to complete the project. The student drawings will be posted in the hospital during Nurses Week, May 6-12.
