Crowds Brave Winds to Pay Respects to Veterans

In Marysville crowds braved wind gusts of approximately 40 mph to pay respect to veterans both living and past. A crowd of almost one hundred, including many boy and cub scouts, decorated the creek south of Marysville during a short service honoring fallen veterans.

The scouts, many of whom had started placing flags at area cemeteries as early as six in the morning, then went to the Marysville City Cemetery and placed flags on the individual grave sites of veterans.

The “Service at the Mound” at the Marysville Cemetery paid special tribute to the veterans of World War 2. The Marshall County Community Band played several patriotic songs during the event and accompanied emcee Ron Grauer in the Ceremony of Allegiance. The ceremony concluded with the singing of the Star Spangled Banner and a salute by the American Legion Firing Squad.
