Marshall County Population Falls Significantly

Marshall County had the second largest population decline in the Northeast Kansas over the last 10 years at 7.7 percent. The new federal census figures show that 77 of Kansas’ 105 counties lost residents over the past decade.

 Marshall County has decreased from approximately 16,000 residents in the 1960’s to 10,117 residents in 2010. Nemaha County population fell by 5 percent in the last 10 years to 10,178. Washington County’s population has decreased 10.55% over the last ten years to a population of 5,799 people.
