Downtown Rail Bed Project Placed On Hold

The Marysville City Council has tabled the Downtown Rail bed project. The council voted 4-3 to table the project until their next meeting. The council will reconsider the project, its design and potential state funding. The rail bed project was to place a bike/walking path from south 10th Street around city park to Broadway Street. No decision was made regarding the curb and gutter improvement project for Broadway Street from 4th to 7th Streets. The rail bed project, and the Broadway curb and gutter projects are expected to be discussed at the councils next work session.

Sales taxes collected for December sales were the highest they have been since 2006. 86,836 dollars was collected from December sales tax receipts.

During the round table discussion councilwoman Liz Doll asked Councilman Bill Phillipi to discuss with the council his plan to reduce water and sewer rates. Phillipi was quoted in the February 23rd Marysville Advocate as wanting to re-explore the recent water rate increases. Doll asked Phillipi to share any ideas he may have to reduce the increases so they could be worked on now. Phillipi made no comment.
