A Beatrice Police Officer was in the right place at the right time Wednesday night. The officer was parked near Phil’s Farm and Radiator Repair on West Court Street. The officer watched a pickup pull into the business, a man exit the pickup, pick up an item and place it in the pickup.
The officer conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle, identifying the driver as 19-year old Quirstin Gross. In the back of the vehicle, the officer discovered three car batteries.
A male, identified as 33-year old Kevin Glasner, told the officer that he was down on his luck and took the batteries. Glasner also informed the officer that the third battery came from a house at 400 High Street.
Also found in the vehicle was a scanner programmed to the police channel. Glasner said he used the scanner to know the whereabouts of police.
Glanser was arrested for two counts of theft, possession of burglary tools and interfering with police radio system.
Gross was arrested for aiding and abetting two counts of theft, no proof of insurance and aiding and abetting interfering with police radio system.
