The effort to recall Wymore City Council person Dan Hawkins is continuing despite the Wymore City Council filling its vacant seat Wednesday night.
Wymore citizen Lee Carr said many citizens still support the recall process. Hawkins left five consecutive meetings in January and February blocking the appointment of Beth Cordry-Hookstra to the council. His departure effectively ended the meeting since a quorum was no longer present.
On Feb. 23, Carr began collecting signatures and indicated he had enough to recall Hawkins as of Tuesday. The petition will be submitted to the Gage County Clerk’s office who must verify the signatures. Once that occurs, the Wymore City Council will vote to decide if a recall election should take place.
