Marysville, KS – Community Memorial Healthcare (CMH) is moving into its new hospital
March 8-10, 2011. The brand new $17.3 million hospital features state-of-the-art technology
and vast improvements in patient care, patient safety, and patient privacy.
CMH will run essential services at both hospital facilities during the move to ensure the safe
transfer of patients and to smooth the transition of all the hospital’s departments to the new
facility. “We have a very detailed move plan for the hospital that we’ve been working on for
the past year and a half, because we also have to transfer all the equipment, supplies and
offices, as well as the patients,” said Chief Executive Officer Curtis Hawkinson.
Vital aspects of the transition planning and move include: installing new equipment, furniture,
computers, flat panel televisions, and telephones; making sure all supplies are ordered and
stocked properly for different departments; training over 200 employees on the layout and
functionality of the new facility; and developing new operations for a variety of internal and
external systems such as communications, safety, security and proper workplace functions.
CMH’s move-day strategy will ensure the smoothest transition possible for both patients and
staff. The bulk of the move will occur in a three-day time period from Tuesday, March 8th to
Thursday, March 10th. Support services, such as purchasing and dietary, move into the new
hospital earlier to prepare the building. Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy and Physical
Therapy will move towards the latter part of March.
Patients and visitors can use the temporary parking lot along 19th Street between Marysville
Clinic and Community Physicians Clinic. Please enter the new hospital at the east patient
drop-off along 19th Street across from Community Physicians Clinic.
A ribbon cutting and open house is planned for the public in June.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the hospital at (785) 562-
2311.
