Rollover Accident Leaves One Man Injured

DATE: 2-13-11 @ 0230 hours

LOCATION: Wolf Creek bridge on S 162nd Rd just north of Plum Road

OFFENSE: One vehicle rollover

CASE: 2011-0719

Gage County Communications received a call of a one vehicle rollover accident. Steven Withers, 41 of Liberty, reported that he had swerved to miss a deer and crashed into the guard railing over Wolf Creek Bridge on S 162nd Road just north of Plum Road. When Withers’ 2005 Dodge Caravan made contact with the guard railing, it caused the van to roll one time and come to rest on its top. The van was completely blocking the southbound lane of traffic. Gage County Department of Roads was also called out to remove two I-beams from the bridge that were protruding into the northbound lane of traffic. Withers sustained minor visible injuries. It is believed Withers was utilizing a seatbelt and alcohol was not a factor.
