Tuesday Primary to Narrow Marysville Mayor’s Race to Three

Marysville Voters will cast their ballots Tuesday for the position of Mayor. The primary was required when four Maryville citizens filed for the position, only three names can appear on the general election ballot. The four persons running for the position of Mayor are”

Current Mayor Bernie Krug, who has served four years as mayor and is seeking re-election to another two-year term. Tim Jones is the advertising coordinator at Dank’s Broadway Market; the issues he is focusing on are the sales tax proposal and more scrutiny of city officials. Micheal Nelms, is a part time bartender at the American Legion. He wanted to see separate funds established for the projects to be paid for if the new sales tax is approved and not put into the general fund. Bill Phillipi is self-employed with 3J Enterprises is currently serving as a councilman in Ward 1. Phillipi wants the city to become more cost effective through the use of sales tax and property tax money and re-exploring the recent water rate increases.

Voters from all four of the town’s wards will cast ballots at the Marysville Moose Lodge. The poll will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
