The Kansas House of Representatives this week passed an amended series of state spending cuts proposed by Governor Sam Brownback.
The plan calls for a 2% reduction in base state aid to schools and 7.5% pay cuts for legislators, some government executives, and some university employees.
The budget proposal which now goes to the Senate, provides for cutting taxpayer-provided state general fund spending by about $38-million to $5.73-billion for the current fiscal year that ends June 30th.
