Meeting Scheduled to Discuss the Closure of Bern School

The first possible school closure in the newly formed Prairie Hills USD 113 will be the topic of discussion on February 21st at the Bern High School.

The special meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m. and will include discussion and a question and answers time. The Board of Education members will be present. The district will post an agenda closer to the time of the meeting.

Enrollment at the school in Bern has dropped over 20% since the 2007-2008 school year, to 107 students. Axtell and Summerfield have experienced a 2.1 percent decrease, Sabetha a 1.2 percent increase and Wetmore a 1.7 percent increase since the 2007-2008 school year.
