The regular meeting of the U.S.D. #451 Board of Education was called to order Monday, December 13, 2010 by President Dale Sudbeck at 7:30 p.m. Alan Schmitz, Steve Sudbeck, Nick Holthaus, John Haug, Jim Dalinghaus and Martin Haug answered roll call. Also attending were Jerry Turner, Betty Gleason, Carol Hunninghake, Fr Ed Oen, and Glen Meyer.
John Haug made a motion to approve the minutes of the November 8, 2010 regular meeting and the December 7, 2010 special meeting as presented. Steve Sudbeck seconded the motion; motion carried. 7-0
Jamison Macke, senior class president, presented the itinerary for the class trip to San Antonio.
Alan Schmitz made a motion to approve the agenda as amended. Nick Holthaus seconded the motion; motion carried. 7-0
Martin Haug left the meeting at 7:50 p.m.
Jim Dalinghaus made a motion to sell the tract of Land (in the northeast quarter of section 17, Township 2 south, range 12 East) to Leo Mohrman for $1. The buyer will pay for all legal fees and/or any additional costs involved. John Haug seconded the motion; motion carried. 6-0
Steve Sudbeck left the meeting at 8:05 p.m. and returned at 8:20 p.m.
The board tabled Parish Lease Agreements.
Jerry Turner’s superintendent report included: requests from David Clements and Susan Winters to use classrooms for evening college classes, Legislative luncheon at Seneca on January 5, 2011, update on the Special Education Coop. Mr. Turner also reported on the high school and elementary activities: B&B football team won the state championship at Newton, and the elementary Christmas program is scheduled for Wednesday, December 15, 2010.
Martin Haug returned to the meeting at 8:29 p.m.
Martin Haug made a motion to accept the general fund, activity fund financial reports, treasurer’s report, claims and payroll for the month of December. Alan Schmitz seconded the motion; motion carried. 7-0
Jerry Turner, Superintendent, reported that he received a request from the Basketball Benefit group to use the facilities February 19 & 20.
Steve Sudbeck made a motion to accept the donations from the B&B Booster Club for the activity trip to Troy for the Holocaust speaker $319.05, elementary trip to Body Venture program in Seneca $131.00, and elementary books for the elementary giveaway $258.88. Martin Haug seconded the motion; motion carried. 7-0
Nick Holthaus made a motion to approve the senior class to continue with their plans for the senior class trip to San Antonio. Dale Sudbeck seconded the motion; motion carried. 7-0
The board commended the football team and coaches for winning the State Championship game in Newton and recognized the support shown from parents, patrons, and businesses for their generous donations.
John Haug made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 8:55 p.m. with the next regular meeting scheduled January 10, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. Jim Dalinghaus seconded the motion; motion carried. 7-0
