During the 2009 Tax Season, over 600 taxpayers in Northeast Kansas had their federal and state income tax forms prepared free of charge by RSVP’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. This enabled the elderly and low income persons and families to receive $450,228.00 in refunds.
RSVP of Northeast Kansas is again sponsoring the VITA program, as well as the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) program. Volunteers will help prepare federal and state tax forms, as well as, Homestead and Food Sales Tax:
Axtell- Monday, February 28 – 1:00-4:00 in the Back room at Ace’s, 402 Maple;
Blue Rapids – Thursday, February 24 – 9:00-11:00 a.m. and 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Community Center, North side of Public Square;
Frankfort – Friday, February 11 – 1:00-3:00 at Friendly Neighbor Nutrition Site, 509 N. Walnut;
Marysville – Thursday, February 3 – 4:00-7:00 at Lincoln Center, 405 N. 4th, and Every Wednesday from February 2-April 13 – 9:00-11:00 a.m. and 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the RSVP Office, 109 S. 8th Street;
Summerfield – Friday, March 11 – 1:00-3:00 at the Community Center, 211 Main Street;
Waterville – Thursday, February 17 – 4:00-7:00 at the Community Education Office, 307 E. Lincoln;
Any individual can be seen at any of the sites listed. You do not have to be a resident of that county to take advantage of these services.
To qualify, your annual household income (two or more persons) should be $49,000 or less. It is very important that clients also bring a copy of last year’s Income Tax forms.
