A three-vehicle accident at the junction of U.S. 75 and K-9 Highways in northern Jackson County may have injured a Marysville man to the hospital Friday afternoon. The accident sent a total of three people to the hospital.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says 59-year-old Michael Palmer of Marysville was traveling north on U.S. 75 when his pickup struck the rear of northbound car driven by 63-year-old Mable Edmond of Wetmore who was attempting to make a left turn onto westbound K-9.
The impact of the crash caused Edmond‘s car to enter the southbound lane, where a southbound truck driven by 56-year-old David Hayenga of Valley City, North Dakota struck her vehicle on the passenger side.
Edmond was flown to the KU Medical Center in Kansas City with disabling injuries. David Hayenga was transported to the Horton Community Hospital with possible injuries. A passenger in his vehicle, 52-year-old Cathy Hayenga of Valley City, North Dakota, was taken to Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center in Topeka with disabling injuries. Palmer received possible injuries, but wasn‘t transported to a hospital.
The accident was reported shortly before 2:15 Friday afternoon.
