Emergency Meeting Called to Spend 1.9 Million Dollars

The Board of Education of Unified School District No. 364, Marysville Public School, Marysville, Kansas, will be held at the Board of Education Central Office in Marysville, Kansas, at 5:00 p.m., on December 21, 2010.

The board will be voting to authorize a base lease agreement and related documents for the purpose of acquiring, constructing and installing energy conservation measures in certain existing school facilities.  This will upgrade the lighting, heating and cooling systems making them more economical.

The principal amount of 1.9 million dollars will be the equivalent of a 12 year lease with 0 percent financing backed by American Reinvestment and Recovery act. Funds for payment of the debt include potential savings from the use of the new equipment.

According to Superintendent Thexton, the timing of the meeting was needed to comply with local bank agreement which required action before January 1st.  He said the discussion and planning for this program began last May, but he was informed last week that action needed to be taken before the end of 2010 to allow a local bank to participate.
