Council Approves Sewer Rate Increase – Complete Ordinance

AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING USER CHARGES FOR THE CITY’S WASTEWATER (SEWER) TREATMENT WORKS, REPEALING ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT THEREWITH.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GOVERNING BODY OF THE CITY OF MARYSVILLE, KANSAS:

SECTION 1. Effective January 1, 2011 wastewater (sewer) rates required to be charged and collected through its officers and agents furnished by the wastewater works of said City shall be as follows:

a.   Users within the City limits for treated water:

(1)   Rates per month for treated water service within the City of Marysville:

First 2,500 gallons                              $0.875 per hundred gallons

Over 2,500 gallons                             $0.525 per hundred gallons

A minimum charge of $21.88 per month shall be charged up to and including 2,500 gallons.

SECTION 2. Effective January 1, 2012 wastewater (sewer) rates required to be charged and collected through its officers and agents furnished by the wastewater works of said City shall be as follows:

  1. Users within the City limits for treated water:

(1)  Rates per month for treated water service within the City of Marysville:

First 2,500 gallons                               $0.910 per hundred gallons

Over 2,500 gallons                              $0.575 per hundred gallons

A minimum charge of $22.75 per month shall be charged up to and including 2,500 gallons.

SECTION 3.  Effective January 1, 2013 wastewater (sewer) rates required to be charged and collected through its officers and agents furnished by the wastewater works of said City shall be as follows:

a. Users within the City limits for treated water:

(1)  Rates per month for treated water service within the City of Marysville:

First 2,500 gallons                               $0.950 per hundred gallons

Over 2,500 gallons                              $0.620 per hundred gallons

A minimum charge of $23.75 per month shall be charged up to and including 2,500 gallons.

SECTION 4.  Effective January 1, 2014 wastewater (sewer) rates required to be charged and collected through its officers and agents furnished by the wastewater works of said City shall be as follows:

a. Users within the City limits for treated water:

(1)  Rates per month for treated water service within the City of Marysville:

First 2,500 gallons                               $0.980 per hundred gallons

Over 2,500 gallons                              $0.675 per hundred gallons

A minimum charge of $24.50 per month shall be charged up to and including 2,500 gallons.

SECTION 5.  Effective January 1, 2015 wastewater (sewer) rates required to be charged and collected through its officers and agents furnished by the wastewater works of said City shall be as follows:

a. Users within the City limits for treated water:

(1)  Rates per month for treated water service within the City of Marysville:

First 2,500 gallons                               $1.050 per hundred gallons

Over 2,500 gallons                              $0.700 per hundred gallons

A minimum charge of $26.25 per month shall be charged up to and including 2,500 gallons.

SECTION 6. On first and final partial month billings, charges will be computed on actual water usage or the appropriate monthly minimum charge divided by the number of days in the billing cycle, whichever is greater.

SECTION 7. That the rates specified herein are subject to such changes as may have to be made from time to time by said City in order to meet the costs of operation, improvement and maintenance of said utility, and pay the principal of and the interest upon any outstanding bonded indebtedness of the system of any future bonds for extending, enlarging, or improving the sewer system of the City of Marysville.

SECTION 8. That Ordinance No. 1677 and all other ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict therewith, be and they are hereby repealed.

SECTION 9. That this ordinance shall take effect and be in full force December 13, 2010, following its passage and publication in the official City newspaper.
