Republicans in the Kansas House of Representatives take a comfortable 92-33 majority into the new Kansas legislative session in January. And they will do so with a new leader.
This morning, Arlen Siegfried of Olathe was elected the new Majority Leader in the Kansas House defeating Richard Carlson of St. Mary’s 54-36.
Siegfried replaces Ray Merrick from Stillwell, who was appointed to the Kansas Senate to fill the vacancy created by the election of State Senator Jeff Colyer as Lt. Governor.
Minority Leader Paul Davis of Lawrence is expected to be unopposed in efforts to reclaim the top Democratic job in the Kansas House.
