An electric rate adjustment will increase electric rates if approved by the Beatrice City Council at their meeting this Monday. The Board of Public Works cleared the way for an adjustment that would go into effect January 1st of next year if approved by the council. The proposed rate increase would raise the cost of electricity 13.5 percent in winter and approximately five percent in summer costs. Beatrice Public Works intends to absorb some of the rate increase. According to BPW estimates the average customer will see around a five percent increase on their bill.
