Search on for man who attempted to abduct child

Authorities continue to investigate the possible abduction of a child in Hiawatha. A report was received at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday evening that an individual who had attempted to coerce a minor female into his truck. 

The Hiawatha Police Department continues to search for a man driving an older model red Chevy pickup with a silver flatbed.  The vehicle had rust on both the cab and bed.  Witnesses also reported the rear of the truck had some type of tow package. 

The suspect is reported to be a white male in his 40’s or 50’s with wrinkles and no facial hair. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a white baseball cap and dark blue shirt with light blue lettering on it. Hiawatha Police Chief Evans Woehlecke says numerous vehicles have been stopped, but a suspect has yet to be identified.
