Effective January 1st, RSVP of Northeast Kansas will no longer serve Brown and Nemaha counties. RSVP Board President Jada Ackerman said the decision is because of the inability to find funding in the counties, as well as the cost of travel. Ackerman said that the board has been discussing for some time.
Nemaha County residents will continue to have access to the program. A tax preparation day has been scheduled in Axtell to make travel to appointments shorter. The Brown County site at the Northeast Kansas Area Agency on Aging office in Hiawatha is also available to help.
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP of Northeast Kansas currently serves Brown, Nemaha, Marshall and Washington counties. The program’s office is located in Marysville.
