Marysville man involved in 3 vehicle injury accident

A Marysville man was involved in a 3 vehicle injury accident on the south edge of Beatrice Friday.  The accident occurred on South Highway 77 where the southbound lanes merge.

Jason Evans of Marysville was driving a semi with a grain trailer southbound when a Geo Tracker driving by Shawn Sommerville, age 20, attempted to merge from the right lane and hit the front of the semi tractor.  The momentum spun the small suv in the northbound lane of traffic.  The suv was then hit by a northbound car driven by Vonnie Higgins, age 75, of rural Beatrice.

Carrie Alder, age 19, a passenger in the Geo Tracker, was taken by Star Care helicopter to Bryan-LGH West in Lincoln.  Shawn Sommerville, the driver of the Geo Tracker, was taken to Beatrice Airport, transferred to Life Net helicopter and flown to Bryan-LGH West in Lincoln.  Vonnie Higgins, driver of the northbound car, was taken to Beatrice Hospital and later transferred to Bryan-LGH. Jason Evans and his child passenger were not hurt.
