Grand Jury clears Gage County Corrections

A Gage County Grand Jury ruled Friday that former jail inmate Cecil Creek died from natural causes. In July 73-year-old Creek was found unresponsive in his cell, was taken to Beatrice Community Hospital and pronounced dead. Nebraska State law requires a grand jury be convened whenever someone dies while in custody. The proceeding is closed to the public. Gage County Attorney Randall Ritnour confirmed the grand jury’s decision Friday afternoon. In April, Creek was convicted of molesting underage girls. He had two previous convictions of sexual assault and was awaiting his sentencing for the third when he died.
