Attempt To Terminate Marysville City Administrator Fails

A motion to dismiss City Administrator Rick Shain highlighted the Marysville City Council meeting Monday night.

The council went into round table discussion and when it was Bill Phillipi’s turn he read a motion to immediately terminate Rick Shain.  That motion was seconded by Kevin Throm.

Following a tense discussion, Wayne Price moved that the issue be tabled.  That was seconded by Bob Shipman.  The motion to table was defeated.

After further discussion, Phillipi’s motion to immediately terminate City Administrator Rick Shain went to a roll call vote.  That resulted in a four – four tie, with Mayor Krug casting a deciding vote to retain Shain.  Price, Shipman, Schwindamann, and Doll voted along with the mayor for retention.  Concerns over potential liability with the action, associated costs, and replacement were expressed.  Phillipi, Throm, Peschel, and Cohorst voted for the motion to terminate.
