Wymore Rescue Service is finally open for business. Wymore Rescue re-opened on Monday with eight EMTs, six drivers and five support staff. Gage County Medical Consultant Dr. Don Rice said there could be up to 14 EMTs by the beginning of 2011. Rice continues to give credit to the volunteers who worked hard to make this happen
There still appears to be some issues between the city and newly formed Rescue Squad. The city had paid for one part-time position to work during the day so other volunteers would not have to leave their regular jobs. The city has refused to continue pay for this position. Current Wymore Mayor Angela Meyer declined to comment on the current situation. Rice said a possible alternative is working with Beatrice Rescue and have them respond to daytime calls in Wymore.
