Two Marshall County bridges scheduled for replacement

Kansas Transportation Secretary Deb Miller has announced the addition of dozens of projects that will preserve the state’s highway infrastructure to the state’s new transportation plan for the next five years. Thirty-five of the 56 projects added to the construction schedule are bridge replacements. The estimated cost of the projects is nearly $402 million. Among the projects added for fiscal year 2013 are two bridge replacement projects in Marshall County— a bridge on K-110 over the North Fork of the Black Vermillion River and replacement of a bridge on U.S. 36 over Snipe Creek. Miller also has announced that KDOT is beginning engineering design work on 67 bridges. Most, if not all, of these projects will be funded for construction in fiscal years 2014-15. The estimated cost of these projects is nearly $139 million
