State Election Spending Scorecard

Here’s a quick scorecard tracking the spending at the state level in the upcoming Kansas elections.

And the winner is… Kansas Senator Sam Brownback, the Republican Nominee for Governor. Brownback has spent $2.3-million to Democratic Gubernatorial candidate Tom Holland’s $574,000.

The Democrats however, don’t lag behind in the 3-other state races. As of late last week, incumbent Democratic Attorney General Steven Six has spent $1.1-million to Republican challenger Derek Schmidt’s $474,000.

Incumbent Democrat Dennis McKinney’s spending greatly outdistances Republican challenger Ron Estes in cost of running for State Treasurer. McKinney has spent $325,000 to Estes’ $54,000.

And finally, in the Secretary of State race between Incumbent Democrat Chris Biggs and Republican challenger Kris Kobach. Biggs has spent $240,000 to Kobach’s $95,000.

About Mike Schrant

Mike is one of those guys who has spent nearly a lifetime trying to figure out what he wants to do when he grows up. He has split time as a broadcaster and educator having first worked in radio in the early 1970’s while attending junior college. The two careers are directly connected because many of the 25 years as an educator were spent teaching broadcast journalism at the high school and college levels. Mike is married and has three adult children (no grandchildren yet) and enjoys sports, debating politics, gardening, landscaping-hauling rocks, and swapping stories with the "good old boys".
