Military Retirees of all services may get their flu shots as well as basic health screenings at the annual Fort Riley Retiree Appreciation Day, Friday, the 15th October. Fort Riley services some 44,000 military retirees in the four-state area of Kansas, Nebraska, North and South Dakota and a large contingent of these retirees look forward to this annual event at this large, north-central Kansas military installation.
The 2010 Retiree Appreciation Day will be held at Riley’s Conference Center from 8 o’clock that morning until 3:30 in the afternoon.
The “County Fair” including booths with representatives of various veterans’ organizations and agencies – and the Health Fair will progress from 10:00 in the morning through 3:30 in the afternoon. Irwin Army Community Hospital personnel will be on hand to offer flu, pneumonia and shingles shots and basic health screening and healthcare maintenance counseling. A full luncheon buffet will be offered at $17.50 per person with reservations needed in advance by calling 785-239-3320. Throughout the day, retirees will be taking home many valuable gifts and prizes offered through ongoing drawings as the event unfolds. Retiree Appreciate Day is offered as just one gesture of saying “thanks” to all those who have served. It is hoped that many will participate in this once-a-year-event.
