Prospective students and their families, alumni, friends, and taxpayers will have an opportunity to explore Southeast Community College during its annual All-College Open House on Sunday, Nov. 7.
The event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at each SCC campus in Beatrice, Lincoln and Milford. No reservation is required.
Dr. Jack Huck, SCC president, said the event is a showcase for the entire College.
“It is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in the College to come out and see what we’re doing in all areas of the institution,” Huck said. “Our staff and faculty do a tremendous job organizing the event and providing the information that people want that day. I invite anyone who has an interest in SCC, whether a prospective student and their family, alumni, or constituents in our 15-county area, to come to the Open House.”
Prospective and current students will have the chance to win a free Dell Netbook by entering a scholarship drawing. Scholarship money can only be applied toward tuition for credit classes, is only for students who are enrolled or waitlisted in a Program of Study, and must be used between January 2011 and June 2013.
SCC’s Open House gives prospective students and their families a close-up look at programs, including two new ones beginning in January, Energy Generation Operations at Milford and Long Term Care Administration online. Live demonstrations will take place, and students will have the opportunity to talk with faculty and current SCC students in programs in which they are interested. They also may take a self-guided tour of the campus.
As always, SCC alumni are welcomed back to campus to visit with former instructors and staff and get an update on the latest happenings at the College.
Friends and taxpayers also are invited to attend and see how SCC has progressed with the number of programs as well as facilities. On the Lincoln Campus, construction is taking place on a new addition to the Health Sciences section. It is scheduled to be completed in late December.
