KanDrive and 511 provide easy access to travel information
Fans traveling to football games this fall can help themselves arrive at stadiums safely and on time for kickoff by using KanDrive, KDOT’s new travel information portal, and the Kansas 511 travel information phone system.
Before you head out, by visiting KanDrive, www.kandrive.org, a one-stop gateway for travel information in Kansas and surrounding states, you can get essential information to plan your trip. In addition to the statewide map, snapshot camera and electronic roadside sign views along I-70 and other highways in the state, the site also provides road work and weather information and links to helpful travel information resources, such as KC Scout, Kansas Turnpike information and much more.
Road information can also be obtained by calling 511 anytime from any phone in Kansas or 1-866-511-KDOT (5368) from anywhere in the U.S. to find out about the latest driving conditions, work zone and travel weather information for the Turnpike and any Interstate, U.S. or state highway in Kansas and Nebraska. Phone numbers for road conditions in other states surrounding Kansas are also provided. Information is provided free from a landline phone; however, for cellular phone users, cell minutes may apply.
Travelers can also use their handheld mobile devices, such as Smartphones or Blackberries to access text reports for construction project and road condition information by visiting http://511mm.ksdot.org.
For everyone’s safety, please do not call 511 or use your mobile device while driving. KDOT would also remind travelers to abide by Kansas law by buckling up and not texting while driving.
