Citizens that Care, a nonprofit group in Beatrice, is holding a benefit for troops this weekend. The day time activities will take place at the Beatrice Eagles Club. Representatives from the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines will be at the Eagles Club during the day on Saturday. They are providing activities such as a rock climbing wall and basketball toss.
Beginning at 7 p.m. 14 different bands will be playing at six different bars in Beatrice. Each bar is charging a $10 door fee, except the Rail, who will charge $5. A $30 wristband may also be purchased which provides entry to all six venues. All proceeds are going to American troops overseas.
Activities at the Eagles Club will include a poker run, a bike and car show and a tribute to the troops. The 14 bands are donating their time and talents for the cause. Citizens that Care are inviting all area veterans to a “tribute to the troops” beginning at 7 p.m.at the Eagles Club. The tribute is free of charge and will include a color guard from Offutt Air Force Base. Don Myers, a representative of the group said the group hopes to raise $5,000 for the troops and make this an annual event.
