Unemployment rates increase across Kansas

Marshall, Nemaha, and Washington County unemployment rates rose during the month of July.  The Kansas Department of Labor released the July unemployment rates Friday.  Marshall County unemployment rate was 4.6 percent, Washington County was 4.4 percent and Nemaha county was 4.1 percent.  The unemployment rates were up from June, but down from July of 2009.  Statewide, the jobless rate increased to 6.9 percent in July, up from 6.5 percent in June. The unemployment rate in July of 2009 was 7.9 percent.  Kansas businesses have added 17-hundred jobs during the past 12 months, compared to June when the state lost 18,200 jobs.
