B&B and Nemaha County move forward on consolidation

The B & B USD 451 school board adopted a resolution Wednesday evening to consolidate with the Nemaha Valley School District.  The boards agreed to keep the current K-12 configuration at B & B during the next four years.  During this time there will be a frozen budget.  There was an exception to re-evaluate if there were unforeseeable financial obstacles.  The Nemaha Valley School Board adopted the resolution to consolidate districts last week.  The consolidation agreement will now go to the State Board of Education for approval at their September meeting.  If approved by the State Board of Education there will be a public vote on the consolidation during the November 2nd general election.
If approved by voters in both districts, the new district would begin operation on July 1st, 2011.
