Nemaha and B&B choose interim consolidation board members

Seven members have been appointed to an interim board of education that will serve if voters approve a consolidation of the Nemaha Valley and B & B school districts.
Nemaha Valley School District Superintendent Darrel Kohlman says his board appointed 4 members to the board during a special meeting Tuesday evening. They include Kate Hanni, Ilene Enneking, Duane Osborne and Gary Niehues.
The B & B Board of Education during a special meeting Monday appointed three members to the interim board. They include John Haug, Alan Schmitz and Steve Sudbeck.
If voters approve the consolidation, the interim board will serve until a new board is elected.
Kohlman says both boards of education are to consider approval of resolutions to pursue the election for consolidation at their August 9th meetings.
If approved by the two school boards, the consolidation plan will be submitted to the state Board of Education for approval. Thart would clear the way for the consolidation question to be placed on the November 2nd general election ballot for voters in both districts
