Two SCC Students Win National Leadership Awards in Tennessee

Two Southeast Community College students earned awards at the Phi Beta Lambda National Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tenn., July 9-12.

Justin Schultis of Fairbury placed seventh in Business Communications, while Lexi Whitmore of Geneva placed 10th in Word Processing. Both are students at SCC’s Beatrice Campus.

PBL Chapter Advisor Toni Landenberger accompanied the students.

Schultis and Whitmore competed against other college students from across the nation from both two-year and four-year schools.

Future Business Leaders of America-PBL is a nonprofit, education association with 250,000 students preparing for careers in business and business-related fields. At the national conference, SCC members attended workshops, competed in one of more than 50 competitive events, participated in a march around Nashville to raise money for the March of Dimes, and assisted Nebraska PBL members in running for national office. The SCC group also saw a Grand Ole Opry show at the Ryman AuditorCium and toured the Country Music Hall of Fame.
