Marysville, KS — The Board of Trustees for Community Memorial Healthcare’s newly created foundation met June 23, 2010, to elect officers and establish areas of giving. CMH Foundation will be the philanthropic arm of the hospital whose purpose is to support and encourage health care services and education.
The foundation board consists of three hospital board members who will serve a one-year term with the remaining trustees selected from Marysville and the surrounding communities who will serve three-year terms. Hospital board members serving as foundation trustees for the next year are Ken Kickhaefer and William Oborny, Marysville, and John Schwartz, Blue Rapids. Trustees serving for the next three years are John Howard and Bette Lammerding, Marysville, Tim Olmsted, Beattie, and Joyce Stryker, Waterville. Elected officers are John Howard, Chair; Joyce Stryker, Vice-Chair; and Bette Lammerding, Secretary.
Donors giving through the foundation can designate their gift towards a general fund for priority needs, an equipment fund for medical equipment, or a scholarship fund for medical education. The foundation’s first goal is to raise funds for placement of a dialysis clinic on the CMH campus. Space has been set aside in the new facility but equipment and a specialized reverse osmosis system will need to be funded for the clinic’s operation.
“I am extremely pleased with the selection of the foundation board members, and look forward to the opportunity to work with this esteemed group of people,” said CMH Foundation Coordinator Pam Harrison. “Each person brings with them individual strengths that when combined creates a strong foundation that will function in the interests of both the donor and the hospital.”
