On Tuesday, June 22, 2010, the Gage County Sheriff’s Office and Beatrice Rural Fire and Rescue responded to a two vehicle injury accident which occurred on Highway 4 approximately ½ mile west of Southwest 117th. A 2003 Ford F-350 pulling a flatbed trailer driven by 63 year old Alan C. Seeley of rural Jansen, Nebraska, was driving eastbound on Highway 4 when he lost control of his vehicle. A 2010 Ford F-150 pickup driven by 54 year old William D. Peperkorn of rural Dewitt was traveling westbound. The driver of the F-150 collided with the F-350 who was left of center and both vehicles arrived at the final rest in the north ditch. The driver in the F-350, 63 year old Alan Seeley was transported to Beatrice Community Hospital by Beatrice Rural Fire and Rescue and was pronounced dead at Beatrice Community Hospital. The driver of the F-150, 54 year old William D. Peperkorn, was life flighted by Life Net to Bryan LGH West in Lincoln with non-life threatening injuries. Air bags were deployed in both vehicles and seatbelts were being utilized in F-150 but are not believed to have been utilized in the F-350. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident and the accident is still under investigation by the Gage County Sheriff’s Office and the Nebraska State Patrol.
